Under the supervision of the Directorate of Health and Safety at the University of Zakho, and in coordination with the Civil Defense Directorate, a series of theoretical and practical seminars on fire incident management were organized.

The initiative aimed to raise awareness among staff and students and to safeguard lives and public property. During the field-based sessions, participants were introduced to proper firefighting procedures and response mechanisms. The activity consisted of two seminars. The first seminar was held on February 15, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the University Presidency. The second seminar took place on February 17, 2026, at the College of Education.

The seminars addressed several key themes, including:

• Theoretical Component: An overview of the causes of fire outbreaks and the types of manual fire extinguishers.

• Practical Component: Hands-on training on the correct use of firefighting equipment during emergencies.

• Safety Guidelines: Instructions on evacuation procedures and the protection of lives in emergency situations.

Such seminars play a significant role in minimizing material and human losses and in preparing university staff to respond effectively to unexpected incidents.
